Summer Vacation at Surfside Beach

Bethany's one wish after returning home from her mission (blog post to come) was to hit the beach. We hadn't been yet for the summer so we ganged up with Sarah and her family and decided on Surfside Beach (southern Myrtle). We invited Bethany and Hannah to join us in this venture, which proved to be for our benefit with Bethany's Italian cooking. We drove down on Monday, August 2nd, and returned Saturday, August 7th.

(Carson and Talie had to start the vacation out by getting rides from Chris)
On Tuesday Chris took Carson fishing in the pond that was across the street. Naturally, he loved this, and even caught a trout.

On Thursday Chris got away to fish on his own and caught his first Red Drum. It was a rather large fish, but not sure what the exact inches were.
Us sisters got to spend lots of time together just chatting (and looking at pictures of everyone's facebook). We also shopped our hearts out, with and without children. Without children seemed to be more fun, and successful. And of course every day we devoted a good amount of time to the private pool (in our backyard) and the beach.
Carson really took to body surfing, and was actually pretty good at it. He would do it over and over again, and continue to ride the waves. Cooper tried and succeeded in riding the waves once, and oh how I wish I was video recording it at the moment. There are few pictures due to the sand and camera safety.
Bethany and Talia on friday right before we were kicked off the beach because of a bad storm coming.

Carson who is typically a momma's boy doesn't appear to be at the moment.
The highlight of Cooper's trip was climbing the suitcases continuously up to the bed.

On thursday Bethany made everyone the most amazing (real) italian pizza for dinner. Then we all went out for a good 'ol game of miniature golf. It was quite the adventure with 4 little ones. Sarah and Chris tide up that game. Then on friday we went out to dinner and then this time around B and H volunteered to baby-sit so that just us two couples could go miniature golf. It drizzled/rained the entire two games, which made it a little more challenging. This time around Chris and Adam tide up the game.

Friday we headed to the mall (and scored some awesome deals) and then let
Carson and Cooper take a ride in the plane
Saturday we headed back home. Chris, unknowingly, left his surfshirt on top of the car. About 20 minutes down the road he heard something hit the road and he immediately remembered leaving it there. We pulled over and he walked back up the highway. Thankfully he was able to recover it...
