Easter Holiday 2009

The Easter Holiday lasted for about a week in our house with all the Carson was able to do. The first thing was going to Konnarock to an egg hunt on Monday, April 6th. It was absolutely miserable weather (probably shouldn't have gone) and so they had the "hunt" inside. Really all they did was sit in chairs and give each child the same number of eggs. It was great for Carson. He loved getting the eggs and opening them to eat the chocolate. He even got $8, but didn't care nearly as much for that.

Afterwards we got yummy snacks

When we got home Carson received a new pet from Daddy. She was a stray that wonders back to our house every few days now (I guess for food). Carson LOVED her (nicknamed Sabastian).

He was very upset when he had to go to bed and couldn't feed the cat any longer.
Then on Saturday, April 11th, we headed to Grayson Highlands Park to attempt another egg hunt. It wasn't as bad of weather, but still rather cold. Carson did great finding eggs. It lasted such a short time, and was so chilly, they we didn't snap any pictures of this event.

Finally, Easter Sunday was full of family events. It started out a little cold, but ended up being a very nice day. It was good to spend time with family, and Carson loved it. I attempted to give Carson his first lessons on what Easter was really about, but being 18 months I can't imagine he took any of it in. But hey, as long as it starts the tradition of remembering the real reason for the Holiday, that is all that matters right? I sometimes think that holiday's are here for us to be forced to spend time with family, and that is important too.

First we went to Grandpa and Granny Green's (Chris's parents). Here we had a fabulous lunch, and then Carson got to do his very own egg hunt. He really was a pro at this point, and loved walking around picking up eggs to put in his basket.

Then we headed over to see Great-Granny and Papaw Green (Chris's grandparents). We had the chance to eat a little more (what else would holiday's be for if you didn't eat 5 times in one day), and Carson got to do yet another egg hunt with cousin Travis. His favorite was a soccerball egg because he would pick it up and throw it like it was a football. He loves any type of ball.

The best part was that they truly matched my outfit AND eyes

After the egg hunt Cousin Travis took Carson for a wagon ride behind the lawnmower. They both loved it. Travis got to drive and Carson got to ride. Carson was envious that he didn't get to drive himself though.

Last, but not least, on our way home this wonderful Easter Day Chris started to feel pretty sick. He only got worse as the night went on (and hadn't been feeling great the previous few days). The next day I finally convinced him to see a doctor. Come to find out he has Strep. He had a sore on his leg that wasn't going away and we started to be concerned. He developed this shortly after the lovely fire accident, and him stepping on a nail. Apparently the Strep bacteria must have entered through that wound and turned in the Strep skin infection (I had never heard of this before) and Strep throat. He has had two antibiotic shots and is starting to feel better. Hopefully the shots will clear the bacteria and cure his leg sore so that it doesn't turn into anything a surgeon needs to look at. What a week it was (and continues to be until Chris is cleared).
